CRYOSPHERE>SNOW/ICE>SNOW DEPTH
Spice Autonomous snow depth station for real-time measurement
Manufacturer: A2 Photonic Sensors
Serial number: SPICE-33-LW
The instrument is checked twice a year (April/May and September) for basic maintenance (battery and memory card replacement).
Snow depth is measured with the ultrasonic sensor every 30 minutes and recorded on the internal SD card. Every 6 measurement data are sent to the LoRa gateway at the Polish Polar Station Hornsund. In case of the the failure of LoRaWAN transfer protocol data are recorded on the internal SD card
The sensor is installed approx. 2 m above snow-free land surface.

The reflector is stored in Longyearbyen and is waiting to be installed at the selected location.

InSAR corner reflectors for terrestrial laser scanning and aerial calibration. The reflectors are made of metal (structural steel, aluminium) and fully protected against corrosion by, e.g. galvanising or painting. The reflector consists of two reflecting elements made of three square planes (perforated and solid plates) arranged perpendicular to each other. The reflecting elements are made of 5 panels consisting of a frame made of closed profiles with a square cross-section with dimensions of 75 x 75 cm (external dimension).
