The SIOS Board of Directors (BoD) is appointed by the General Assembly and has up to seven members. The Chair is an employee of a Norwegian member institution.
The BoD is responsible for the operation of SIOS in accordance with the directions and decisions given by the General Assembly and shall take into account the views expressed by other SIOS working groups and committees. Tasks of the BoD include beside others
- to establish working groups and task forces;
- to propose policies, to be adopted by the General Assembly;
- to develop a work programme and annual budget for SIOS, to be approved by the General Assembly.
