An international observing system for long-term measurements in and around the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard addressing Earth System Science questions
SIOS invites project proposals from the SIOS research community for acquiring aerial imagery and hyperspectral data using SIOS’s airborne remote sensing platforms to conduct scientific projects.
The behavior of the atmosphere during daylight hours, when it is usually well mixed by small whirls, is well understood. But what happens when it’s dark after sunset or during polar night and winds calm down?
The SIOS access project NYTEFOX set out to fill this knowledge gap by using a recently developed technique to collect a unique dataset capturing all air motions.
SIOS, represented by our remote sensing officer, is co-convening a session on airborne remote sensing at vEGU 2021.
The title of the session is "Airborne observations in multidisciplinary environmental research using European Research Infrastructures; observations, campaigns and future plans".
SIOS-KC and the Remote Sensing Working group have prepared a survey to understand the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Svalbard science community during 2020.
